Malo Depincé

Malo Depincé is a professor at the University of Montpellier. He was Director of LICeM (2022-2025), Deputy Director then Director of the Dynamique du droit research unit (CNRS and University of Montpellier) and has also been Dean's Assessor for Artificial Intelligence at the Faculty of Law and Political Science since 2024.
He holds a Master's degree in competition and consumer law and a doctorate in law (the precautionary principle, 2004), and teaches consumer law, competition law, food law, and European Union business law. A recognized specialist in market law, he is co-author of a consumer law textbook (Dalloz) and another on competition law (LexisNexis).
He directs the Master's program in Consumer Affairs and Competition Law, as well as the Master's program in Food Law and Agroecology. He is the academic director of the Artificial Intelligence and Data certification program.
He is fluent in English and speaks Spanish.
Public expertise
Malo Depincé was a member of the Advertising Ethics Jury (JDP) of the French Advertising Regulatory Authority (ARPP) for over ten years. He also served two terms on the Commission on Unfair Terms (CCA) and sat on the Board of Directors of the Scientific Society for Food Hygiene (SSHA). He is currently a member of the National Food Council (CNA).

His research focuses in particular on new consumer behaviors and the contracts offered to consumers, sustainable food, and artificial intelligence in the legal profession.
